At Home He's a Tourist

He fills his head with culture/ He gives himself an ulcer.

A brief Lubbock excursion yesterday. At a Hastings I bought a brand-new DVD copy of Tampopo, one of my top 20 movies, for only $4 (marked down from $15). Sadly ironic, given my Lenten resolution, but it will make Easter all the more enjoyable.

My face has been flushing and burning at random the past few days. Incipient rosacea?

Hastings stores have become a disapointment-the quality of books has gone down. Might be function of 'remainders' available, but even the new book shelves have gone sour-history and other serious areas empty in several locations-Greenvill & Waxahachie,Tx. They thrive on pop culture and a sad assortment of the trivial.

I rarely bother looking at the books at Hastings--if I want something to read I'll either go to Barnes in Noble in Lubbock (which ain't that great either but serviceable) or use interlibrary loan (free and convenient).
