Jobs

Speaking of the "Endless Searche" (see earlier post) I found out yesterday that a job I applied for in December, and interviewed for in March, has now been filled. Not that I was informed directly, of course--I noticed during a periodic check on the library's web site that a new staff member was listed in the position. I guess it's possible that a rejection letter was sent and lost in the mail, but since the interview process was disorganized from the very beginning I don't think that's the explanation. (In fact, since the chair of the search committee admitted during the interview that she hadn't read my CV (!), I suspect I wasn't ever their first choice.) I wouldn't have been able to take the job even if offered to me, so it's no big deal, but as Gilman says a little courtesy would be nice.

Guitar

Now that OLGA is dead it's up to individual webmaster-guitarists to post transcriptions to their own sites and hope that they show up on Google searches. With that in mind, here are a couple I've come up with recently:

Guitar chords/tab for Stereolab, "Our Trinitone Blast":

Capo II

C#5

C#maddb5* E5 F#5 C#5

*C#maddb5=[x4625x] (not sure about the nomenclature)

Guitar chords/tab for "Unionbusting," Franz Bruno as performed by Jenny Toomey

Fmaj7 Bbmaj7
I negotiated
in good faith and waited
you proposed a contract
no more human contact
Dm Am7 Bbmaj7
I thought I held the cards but I was wrong
Dm7b5 Gdim Bbmaj7
because you've been using
Am7 Bbmaj7
unionbusting tactics all along

[as above]
you're too enterprising
for collectivizing
deadlocked on our summits
while production plummets
my bargaining position seemed so strong
ah, but you've been using
Gm7 Bbmaj7 A7
unionbusting tactics all along (la la la la...)

Cm Abmaj7
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill
Fm Bb7 Ebmaj7 G7
chained up to the factory gate
he said, "If labor has the will
capital must capitulate"
Cm
but the moment my attention drifts
Fm
your scabs start working double shifts
Bbm7
and when you send in troops and tanks
Csus4 C
I may break ranks

I'm no Jimmy Hoffa
make a counter-offer
I'll supply embraces
Fmaj7 Am/E Bbm6
on a strictly freelance basis
and I won't sing another protest song
you were
treacherous while I was trusting
now our chains of love are rusting
and you've been using
unionbusting tactics all along

I just want the right to work for your love
